FLYNN Exhibits at the Engineering Design Show 2026

Last week we exhibited at the Engineering Design Show in Coventry, two days at the Coventry Building Society Arena meeting founders, product companies, design engineers and manufacturers working on everything from early concepts to products heading into production.

It was our first time exhibiting at EDS and it was a great show. On the stand we were able to share a little about our process and what makes FLYNN stand out from other consultancies.

A lot of our chats came back to one question: why do some products make it while others stall? Most people already knew good design matters. What they wanted to talk about was everything around it: testing ideas with real users early, making decisions with manufacturing in mind from the start, and knowing when a prototype is good enough to move forward.

AI came up in almost every conversation. Some people were excited, some were sceptical, and most were somewhere in between. Our view is that AI has its uses and it is changing quickly, but physical products still have to be engineered, tested and made. The judgement that comes from years of seeing products through to manufacture isn’t something you can shortcut. It was good to hear so many engineers thinking about the same balance.

The highlight for us was hearing about the products people are working on. We met founders with early sketches, teams halfway through development and engineers with an idea they haven’t stopped thinking about.
